Lovage Seed

$6.50
sold out

Perennial herb that is dormant in winter then shoots up in early spring with tender, richly flavoured leaves. Lovage leaves, stems, flowers and seeds all impart a celery/stock cube flavour to cooking, perfect for filling out stocks and stews, or adding a savoury kick to dressings or even desserts.

Early tender growth has a pretty reddish hue, is followed by tall, lime green leaves on thick stems up to a metre tall, then, in high summer, is topped by waxy, golden flowers that pollinators love. Seeds can be picked before full ripeness, dried and used as a spice.

Sow in winter or early spring in potting soil outdoors so seed is exposed to cool temperatures that trigger germination.
